| I found out about Shawnee Hills Outfitters and
Britt Williams the same way most people would. I was looking for a place
to hunt outside my home state of Michigan and a chance to catch a glimpse
of one of the bucks that Illinois is famous for. I took a chance and went
for it. That was 13 years ago now and I have been going ever since. The annual trip to Shawnee Hills has become much more than a hunt. It is a vacation away from the daily grind and a chance to see people that have become friends over the years.Oh Yea and some great hunting... There are not many places that you can go and feel as welcome and "at home" as you will at Shawnee. A lot of the fun is simply waiting to hear the many stories in front of the fire place every evening after the hunters are back in camp and there have been some doozy's... The Williams family are all involved in making the stay as good as possible from Britt's mom and her great cooking, to Britt's wife and daughters cooking and helping around the lodge. In my opinion this is more than a business to Britt and his family. The hunting is what it should be expected to be. Tough hunting of free ranging animals while facing whatever mother nature throws at you. I would have it no other way... Britt does an excellent job on stand placement I have lost many bets going against Britt's recommendation's. Being a guy from Michigan I am not used to seeing many bucks especially of any quality, but it is not uncommon to see between 6-10 bucks in a single sitting if the conditions are right. I have personally seen 31 bucks in a 3.5 day span while bowhunting in Nov. I ended up harvesting a 152 inch buck after continually passing deer that I would typically shoot. It was one of those times where you don't want to shoot and the hunt to come to an end. The chance to see and harvest a true Illinois giant exist every time you set foot on Britt's ground if the hunter is willing to put in the time and be patient. Britt... I decided not to pick on Randy...say Hi to him for me. I have hunted with Britt 3 years and have harvested great bucks each
year and have seen many more than I harvested. The guides will go out Steve Carlson My father and I have been hunting at Shawnee Hill Outfitters for the last
ten years and have seen alot of deer and good bucks. The accomodations
and the food are top notch. We have a great time every year and always
look forward to the next. You come in as a hunter and leave as part of
the family. We would recommend Shawnee Hill Outfitters to anyone loking
for a fun and great hunting trip.
