The upcoming 2010 season will be our 18th anniversary. Each year since the beginning we've taken "world class" bucks in "fair chase" conditions. "Fair Chase" means "no fences", "no feeders", dealing with Mother Nature at hand and a little luck. In fact, due to our super bucks we've harvested consistently throughout the years, prospective clients have asked if we indeed were hunting in fences or ranch type hunting! If you're looking for a true hunt, consider our experience, longevity, habitat and high quality genetics. If you have the patience, positive attitude and a willingness to commit yourself, we're the outfit for you.

Jason Williams of Indiana with his once in a lifetime '07 Giant! Everybody's dream buck:
27" main beams, 24" inside spread, 7" bases with double drop tines

Southern Illinois' finest whitetail hunting operation

Secluded in the remote hill country of Southern Illinois, we're located in an area that's usually only read about, not enjoyed. Our hunters experience vast white oak ridges, honeysuckle thickets, natural creek drainages, accented with persimmon trees and deep dark pines. Not to forget all the ridges flow down into the corn, soybeans and wheat agriculture farms. Those farms are within our bottlenecks of woodlots and fencerows all along and near the Saline and Ohio rivers.

Within these whitetail "hotspots" stands, including hang ons, ladder stands and ground blinds, are strategically placed for your hunt. Self climbing stands can also be utilized for your comfort. Safety belts are a must. You'll also need equipment hangers, pull ropes and a good light with extra batteries. Clothing requirements are usually light to medium weight. Layering undergarments are recommended along with rubber boots. Communication with guides can be done with cell phones and walkie talkies.

Our hunters thoroughly enjoy our lodging and their locations. All nestled in the hill country, void of traffic, neighbors and noise. It'll remind you of a western "pack in" hunt setting. Lodging includes Granny's cabin, "The Bunkhouse" and "Wildcat Lodge". All have the comforts of home. Our meals, simply put, are the best, period. Everyday includes country cooking, homemade desserts and sweet tea. Our lodging staff includes cooks, cleaners and even maintenance personnel.

Since the early eighties I've been fortunate to hunt throughout North America on all kinds of hunts for most of the big game, including bear, moose, caribou, mule deer, elk, mountain lion, different species of turkey, antelope and whitetail. I've seen first hand all the variables a hunt can present. With my experience abroad, and outfitting experience here in Illinois since 1992, I truly believe you can count on Shawnee Hills Outfitters to provide a fair, honest, well rounded, exceptional hunt.
